Maligned Dream Team II brings home the gold.
The comparisons were inevitable. The results were the same. Like their contemporaries of Dream Team I and Barcelona fame, Dream Team II won gold at the World Championship of Basketball in Toronto.
But this team, coached by Golden State's Don Nelson, took some serious blows to their collective egos. An international gathering of sportswriters and photogrpahers spent two weeks alternately criticizing and bashing the U.S.A team.
And when it was over with the gold medals dangling from their necks, many writers continued to find fault with the players and their gold-medal performance.
