Chevy Chase Charged With Redlining.

The U.S. Justice Department has determined that the Chevy Chase Federal Savings Bank practiced redlining by carving out White neighborhoods in the District of Columbia while ignoring Black communities in the city and nearby Prince George's County, Maryland.

The federal government began investigating Chevy Chase, the area's largest thrift, in 1993, after a series of disparities in the number of mortgage loans made in White and Black neighborhoods were brought to light.
