BEIJING, May 15 (IPS) -- The looming billion dollar trade war
between the United States and China may yet be averted before
Washington's threatened sanctions take effect next month, say
analysts in Beijing.
Washington yesterday announced a list of Chinese imports
totalling close to $3 billion that would be hit by sanctions should
the two sides not negotiate a settlement to an intellectual
property rights trade dispute.
The sanctions include newer and higher tariffs on a range of
Chinese exports including clothing and electronics. Washington is
