Coltrane fete draws parallels to contemporary music modes.
A talk by hip hop analyst Greg Tate on the obvious relationship of supreme jazz saxophonist John Coltrane's music to rapping, and the less apparent parallels, made for an illuminating prelude to the John Coltrane Memorial Concert.
The 15th annual concert in tribute to the pioneering innovations of musical giant John Coltrane has regularly been coproduced at Northeastern University by Leonard Brown and Bill Lowe, faculty members of that university's African American Students and Music.
