The Massacre's Blame.
It's open season on finger-pointing.
Baruch Goldstein's atrocity is history; its consequences are still unfolding; Israel's commission of inquiry is doing its digging. But for Jews, that is not sufficient. Jews like to find underlying reasons, especially cosmic ones that will open a window of blame wide enough for a 16-wheel trailer truck to make a leisurely U-turn. It will never do merely to blame the crime on the criminal, so Goldstein must be a symptom of some deep underlying disease, the bigger the better -- provided, of course, the finger points in someone else's direction.
