CAIRO -- The Sphinx is an Egyptian symbol, but its famous riddle is part of Western not Egyptian literature, and the Egyptian officials who planned today's ceremony of the signing of the Gaza-Jericho agreement may not have appreciated the symbolism of their own handiwork.
