WASHINGTON, Jul. 8 (IPS) -- The governments of the Middle East
and North Africa are lagging far behind other regions in the world
in encouraging citizens' access to the Internet, according to a new
report released today by Human Rights Watch (HRW).
The 96-page report, titled "The Internet in the Mideast and
North Africa: Free Expression and Censorship," notes that all but
three governments in the region permit some local access to the
global communications network.
