(Daily Texan) (U-WIRE) CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Hurricane Bret handled Corpus Christi and her residents with a relatively light hand, aside from a few downed power lines and trouble at the local university.
Hurricane Bret made landfall 60 miles south of Corpus Christi Sunday evening, dropping almost 2 feet of rain on Kenedy County, but falling short of the catastrophe forecasters had predicted.
Sam Williams, emergency management officer for Corpus Christi, said other than a few downed power lines, no serious damage occured.
