Native language conference looks to children to keep the spirit alive.

GLORIETA, N.M., Nov. 9 -- Although more than 900 men, women and children stood in the palatial auditorium in Glorieta for the opening ceremonies, we were incredibly quiet as we tried to glimpse the approaching nobility. The voice and the drum of Dr. Lois Ballard, renowned Native composer and conductor, filled the air with a traditional Quapaw song for honoring warriors: "Stand up, be ready, prepare to fight the enemy."
