Oklahoma University 'tops' in American Indian language courses.

NORMAN, Okla. -- With Oklahoma's tribal diversity as a resource, the University of Oklahoma leads the nation in teaching American Indian languages.

The university's language courses fulfill the foreign language requirements -- and open windows to understand the traditions and values expressed in the tongues of North America's first inhabitants.

No other college or university offers as many American Indian languages for college credit or for as many semesters, according to Morris Foster, assistant professor of anthropology and coordinator of OU's American Indian language ...
