There are very, very few Christmas lights and decorations in Havana. Instead, there are "los paganes," daily blackouts, rationing of gas and other necessities, a thriving blackmarket, inevitable when the official exchange rate is an unrealistic, 1 peso to a dollar where it actually is 50 pesos to a dollar, in even harder times 120 pesos to a dollar and a two tiered economy where those with dollars can buy imported and superior goods easily and those with pesos (more than 90% of the population) have to line up for many hours to buy inferior and limited goods.
