Texas Organ Sharing Alliance Has Record Year: Organ donation up 20 percent
The Texas Organ Sharing Alliance has wrapped up another record-breaking year, which was good news for the 271 patients who received organ transplants as a result. This is the third year in a row the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance has had a significant increase in it's number of donors.
During 1998, 91 families in South and Central Texas consented to organ donation, resulting in a total of 280 organs Being transplanted. The six transplant centers in Austin and San Antonio transplanted 198 patients while another 73 patients were transplanted at various centers across the United States. ...
