Landmark Drug Treatment For Sickle Cell Disease Unveiled.
Did you know that sickle cell anemia disease is an inherited disease that is most common among people whose ancestors came from Africa? Did you also know that in the U.S., it also affects primarily African Americans, about 72,000 of whom have the disease?
Well, there is good news to come out of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), who has issued a clinical alert to all physicians in the United States about new findings from the "Multicenter Study of Hydroxyurea" (MSH) in sickle cell anemia.
