The High Price Of Fighting Communism In Vietnam.

By Bobbie Lee

SAN JOSE (CA) -- The holidays are not the same for four lonely Vietnamese children: Thu, 12, Victor, 10, Linda, 7 and Nancy, 6. Since January 1993, they have not seen their father, Jimmy Tran, who is in a prison in a Vietnam prison.

When Jimmy Tran, 43, a former first Lieutenant in the Vietnamese army, left his comfortable home and four young children in San Jose to return to his native land, purportedly to see his 95-year-old grandomother in January 1993, he never returned. Instead he wound up in one of Vietnams worst prisons where he was charged with attempting to sabotage Ho Chih Minh's monuments.
