Miamians finding relief from sickle cell disease in new study.

How does a sickle cell anemia patient spell relief? H.y.d.r.o.x.y.u.r.e.a.
That's a drug that has proven to be the first treatment that frees sickle cell patients from excruciating attacks of the disease.
Carmen Gillette, a University of Miami Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center patient, said after using the drug for six months she went from being hospitalized for her attacks to suffering moderate pain.
"I used to have so much pain and I was in the hospital quite often," she said. "Since I've been taking the drug, I haven't had any real crisis in over two years."
