Tony Gwynn Hurt in Reds' Game

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Tony Gwynn, who's just 25 hits short of 3,000, hurt his left leg coming out of the batter's box in the first inning Friday night against the Reds and had to be helped off the field.

Gwynn grimaced as he was tended to by a team trainer. Manager Bruce Bochy and several players came out to check on the eight-time NL batting champion.

The extent of the injury was not immediately known. Gwynn left the game hitting .333.
