Bohdan Stupka, the star of the Ivan Franko Dramatic Theater in Kyyiv, has long been considered Ukraine's leading actor. Born on August 27, 1941, near Lviv, after studies in that city and work as the Ukrainian Drama Theater's lead in the 1960s, he moved to Kyyiv and quickly established his reputation as a dedicated craftsman, mastering the popular (adaptations of Ivan Kotliarevsky's "Eneyida") and the avant-garde (Ionesco and Brecht), participating in over 40 productions in Ukraine and abroad.
