Lacy Brings Experience to Liberty
NEW YORK (AP) -- Venus Lacy got a rough welcome from the New York Liberty.
Kym Hampton greeted her with an elbow to the mouth at practice, causing a cut that required seven stitches.
Lacy, a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team, is expected to help fill the gap left by Rebecca Lobo's season-ending injury when she makes her belated debut for the Liberty against Los Angeles Friday.
``What Venus brings to the table is defense, rebounding and experience,'' Liberty coach Richie Adubato said of the 6-foot-4 center.
