Malone Wins Bittersweet MVP Award
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Karl Malone felt a need to defend his second Most Valuable Player award.
``I know my points were down and my rebounds were down, but the people who voted looked at more than just that,'' said Malone, who also received the award in 1997. ``This is an award for the whole player, for the defensive player and for the team leader. It's not just the numbers that show up in the newspaper.''
