Red Wings 4, Mighty Ducks 2
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Detroit isn't quite the same team that swept the Anaheim Mighty Ducks two years ago in the playoffs. The two-time defend ing NHL champion Red Wings look even better.
Anaheim managed to extend Detroit to three overtime games before losing in four in the second round in 1997, the Mighty Ducks' first year ever in the playoffs.
This time, Anaheim seems completely overmatched. The Red Wings skated to a 4-2 victory Sunday to take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven opening series, and can wrap it up with a win Tuesday night in Anaheim.
