Montgomerie Wins Loch Lomond Golf

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- Colin Montgomerie birdied nine holes in a span of 12 en route to a 7-under-par 64 in the final round and won the $1.6 million Loch Lomond tournament today. It was his first individual triumph in his native Scotland.

Montgomerie charged from four strokes back going into the round to a three-stroke victory with a 16-under-par 268 total.

Nineteen-year-old Spanish rookie Sergio Garcia shot a final round 68 and tied for second with Swedes Michael Jonzon and Mats Lanner in the final tuneup for the British Open.

Tying for second place put Garcia into the top 10 on Europe's Ryder Cup ...
