"There comes a time," said a song recorded by Valerie Simpson, "when you've got to stand face to face with the truth, when you just can't push it under the rug anymore."
According to Courtney B. Vance, one of the stars of the controversial new Gramercy film "Panther," truer words were never written, spoken or sung. In the movie, which traces the formation, rise and decline of the Black Panther Party For Self-Defense, Vance portrays Bobby Seale, who in late 1966 co-founded the organization with Huey P. Newton in Oakland, California.
