Let us not forget..........CURTIS MAYFIELD.

Quiet fire. That's one way to describe Curtis Mayfield. While others in the rhythm 'n' blues field screamed, shouted and sweat profusely, Mayfield sang sweetly, yet held the audience's attention. The words to the songs Mayfield wrote were riveting, and he sang them from the heart.

Sometimes they were tender love songs such as "I'm So Proud," "Gypsy Woman" and the duet with Linda Clifford, "Between You Baby and Me." At other times, they were politically correct lyrics dealing with the African American struggle for full human rights -- "We're a Winner," "Keep on Pushing," ...
