Knicks' Pat Ewing shows nothing but guts, heart.
He was out there on a pair of gimpy legs. If he were a horse, Patrick Ewing would be history. They shoot gimpy horses. But Ewing is really a horse whom the Knicks have been riding for years. And now the horse is beginning to show signs of breaking down.
What does the future hold for this gallant warrior? Soon enough, the $3. million contract he signed for 10 years will end. His contract, along with those of other Knicks, has prevented Ernie Grunfeld and Dave Checketts from dealing on the free agent market. They need Patrick to help them with the "cap."
But more than anything, the Knicks need Ewing. ...
