Melvin Van Peebles: From `Sweet Back' to `Panther'.
To most "New Jack" film fans, the name Van Peebles conjures up thoughts of movies like NEW JACK CITY and POSSE. But to those who can go back to the days of "Black Power" and "Soul Brothers," the name Van Peebles instantly brings to mind a powerful and poignant movie called "SWEET SWEETBACK'S BAADASSSSS SONG."
