The so-called militias around the United States, exposed after the April 19 Oklahoma City terrorist bombing, masquerade as a populist movement against an abusive central government. But it is no such thing. It is a collection of bogus patriots driven by their paranoid belief that the government is out to snatch away individual liberties.

These heavily armed ultra-rightwingers hide behind the Constitution to justify their activities, which include mock military exercises complete with commando-type garb. And what's even worse is that these gun-fanciers look like, and indeed are, our neighbors. They look so normal, ...
