John Street vs. Julie Welker.
They have met before -- in the 1991 Democratic primaries -- with Street winning over Welker and two other first-time candidates (Rodnie Jamison and Paula Taylor), then breezing through the November general election over his Republican opponent.
But during inauguration ceremonies and his resultant election by his colleagues to City Council president, Street acknowledged the close call in the primaries.
