I had stopped on my way to the set to welcome Dick Gregory, legendary comedian and politician activist who would be playing the part of Rev. Sloccum in our film, Panther. I also came to offer him my director's trailer instead of the cramped quarters they had him waiting in. "Your kidding me, you think I'm soft," he spurted. "I knew your daddy didn't have any money to do the Panther story at all!" He then learned in conspiratorially and pointed to the script of PANTHER. "This stuff here is the history they don't want America to know about. Go on tell our history. Don't worry about me."
