New Republic Gets New Look

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New Republic, struggling to maintain its niche in the increasingly crowded business of political commentary, is getting a new look.

``The magazine as it is now is a pretty gray production,'' editor Charles Lane said Monday from Washington. ``We wanted to reach out to folks who are used to seeing something brighter in what they read. ... It's going to be a younger look.''
