Hills sacred to Tribes but not to BLM, mining companies.
Since time immemorial, the Sweet Grass Hills have been sacred to the Blackfeet, Piegan, Chippewa-Cree, Gros Ventre, Assiniboine, Salish, Kootenai and other Northern Great Plains tribes.
Even though many of these tribes were historically enemies, the Sweet Grass Hills are common sacred grounds to all. These tribes have come together in one united common cause, to save the Sweet Grass Hills from destruction.
Although the Hills are sacred to Indian tribes, they are not sacred to the Bureau of Land Management or to mining companies waiting to stake their mining claims.
