(The State News) (U-WIRE) EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State University may receive more than 600 acres of property in southwest Michigan as a donation from one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies.

The university and Pharmacia & Upjohn reached a preliminary agreement Thursday, giving MSU the company's 80-acre Brook Lodge property and 557 acres of adjacent, undeveloped land located near Augusta.

MSU already leases a portion of the property for forestry research.
