LIMA, May 21 (IPS) -- The human rights issue, an amnesty for the
military, and irregular legal proceedings could make things very
difficult for President Alberto Fujimori as he tours the United
States in search of investors this week.
In his visit to the United Nations, the leader was given a taste
of the obstacles to his political and financial objectives when he
was jeered at by protesters demonstrating against the trial of the
U.S. citizen Lori Berenson.
Berenson was condemned to life imprisonment for her part in a
failed guerrilla attack on the Peruvian Parliament. She did not
deny her membership of the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary ...
