Does Black History Month still serve a useful purpose or has it become a form of commercial tokenism and an excuse for whites to ignore African Americans for the rest of the year?
Commenting on Black History Month, comedian Dick Gregory once said, "Wouldn't you know that when they got around to giving us a month, it would be the month of February with all them days missing."
