HISTORY: The Fisk Jubilee Singers made more than music.

THE FISK JUBILEE SINGERS

Many students found it extremely difficult to stay in school. The tuition for students in the normal and college departments was $1,200 a year, but most families were unable to pay this amount. Financial aid was given to as many students as possible. Black churches in the city sponsored several students, teachers raised money from their communities and the Peabody Fund donated $800 annually for several years.
