Americans asked to mark Voting Rights Act's 30th year.

U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Chairperson Mary Frances Berry yesterday (Aug. 7) called on all Americans to join her in commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. "This Commission is proud to have played a vital role in preparing the way for this watershed event in the history of the civil rights movement," she said.
