Sierra Leone's king is crowned in Philadelphia.

For 5,000 years, kings have reigned in Sierra Leone in West Africa. Last Saturday, a prominent local attorney from the royal family of the Republic of Sierra Leone was crowned king in a unique public ceremony held at LaSalle College's Dan Rodden Theater in Philadelphia.

The event is usually held only in Sierra Leone, but was also held in the Delaware Valley as a symbol of a growing relationship with the United States and with African Americans.
