War note: Yamashita's fall remembered.

KIANGAN, Ifugao--Gen. Tomoyuki Yamashita, Commander of the 14th Area Army of the Japanese Imperial Forces, surrendered twice--informally in Kiangan, Ifugao on Sept. 2, 1945 and formally in Camp John Hay in Baguio City on Sept. 3, 1945.

The 50th anniversary of the two surrenders of the "Tiger of Malaya" will be marked in appropriate ceremonies in Kiangan and in Camp John Hay, with President Ramos presiding over the commemorative rites in both surrender venues.
