Rajiv Gandhi Birth Anniversary: Sonia Criticizes Rao on Slaying Inquiry.

Sonia Gandhi, often called India's most famous widow, caused a sensation with implied criticism of Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao's government in one of her rare visits to her husband's constituency.

Sonia had so far scrupulously kept herself away from all controversy despite incessant, and often misplaced, political and media speculation about her. But in a much-hyped visit to Amethi, Rajiv's parliamentary constituency, she fired her first salvo at Rao, criticizing him indirectly for the tardy progress in the investigations into her husband's murder on May 21, 1991.
