5756 Rosh Hashanah: Bringing the Holiday Home.
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, will begin Sunday evening, the first day of the month of Tishri, and will be celebrated by Orthodox, Conservative and Reconstructionist Jews for two days; more than half of Reform Jews celebrate only the first day.
This first day of the month of Tishri is known in the Torah as Yom Hazikaron, the Day of Remembrance, and Yom Teruah, the day of sounding the shofar.
