It was the great African American bard Langston Hughes who waxed poetic and asked "what happens to a dream deferred?" Of late, another of our cultural icons, Katherine Dunham, is asking herself the same thing. Armed with nothing but her dreams 30 years ago, the internationally acclaimed dancer said good-bye to Broadway and went on a mission to turn one of America's most blighted cities into a cultural oasis.
