`Race Myths' in Reality.
Governor Pete Wilson's ability to get the UC Regents to end "race" preferences in affirmative action within the UC system should be both applauded and condemned. Such is the paradox and absurdity of affirmative action, which is entrenched in a language that distorts human reality, and thus, is ripe for political manipulations with its false ideas of "race" "color" and "minority" status - the "language of racism."
This language, with an obsession on "race," allows opponents and proponents on affirmative action, such as Wilson and Rev. Jesse Jackson, to seize the polarizing symbolic images on "race" as their political ...
