Article: To spread AIDS awareness, Brown U. Health Services offers HIV testing

(Brown Daily Herald) (U-WIRE) PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- "You see condoms everywhere at Brown," one Brown University student said. "They're in Health Services, on freshman counselors' doors, and even the post office once in a while."

But for all the emphasis on safe sex and protection on campus, there is little mention of HIV testing. Students may not even know testing is offered at Brown.

Health Services has "really chosen to go after the decision-making and the latex part" in sex education, said Marylou McMillan '85, director of health education. The goal is "to get people to practice preventive measures that would make them not require testing."
