FED: More disabled Australians finding work, but less hours
CANBERRA, Sept 30 AAP - More disabled Australians are finding work under federal
government-funded job assistance programs but most are getting less hours, a new report to be
released today shows.
An Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) report into open employment services
for those with disabilities in 1997-98 found over 31,000 disabled Australians found and kept
jobs on the open employment market over the study period.
That figure was 20 per cent more than in 1996-97 and followed a similar increase the year
before.
