Jacob Lawrence: Thirty Years of Prints (1963-1993).
Known primarily for his paintings, the art of Jacob Lawrence took on a new face with "Jacob Lawrence: Thirty Years of Prints (1963-1993)," the first comprehensive overview of Lawrence's imaginative printmaking, which concluded recently in the Main Exhibit Hall, lower level, of The Chicago Public Library's Harold Washington Library Center.
Working within the African-American tradition, Lawrence's work engages us through his forte for visual storytelling. His fascination with recording significant events in history, coupled with his keen interest in individual struggle and perseverance, is an apparent ...
