Longtime New Town doctor honored by community.
(AP) -- Dr. Herbert Wilson has been honored for more than 40 years of service to the Fort Berthold Reservation. But he's not about to retire.
During October the town had a "Dr. Wilson Appreciation Day." A program in the New Town Civic Center and open houses around town honored Wilson and his wife, Lilian, for their years of service to the region.
"What I have done is not any particular virtue of my own, but it's what I wanted to do," Wilson said.
The Wilsons were honored with Indian names -- "One Who Heals" for Dr. Wilson and "Woman Who Assists Many" for Lilian Wilson.
