NAT'L BAPTIST CONVENTION: Baptist Leader Urges Members To Sit Out. Washington March
The Rev. Jesse Jackson has apologized for wrongly saying that black Baptist leaders supported a controversial march for black men in Washington.
The Rev. Henry J. Lyons, president of the 7.8 million-member National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., denounced Oct. 16's planned march of 1 million men and accused Jackson of trying to mislead people about Lyons' intentions.
