Armenia '95: Facing the Realities - Part III.
Lake Sevan in Armenia's largest alpine reservoir covering an area of 1,315 square kilometers (735 sq.mi.) with an elevation of 1903 meters (6242 feet) above sea level. Twenty-eight rivers empty into the lake, but only one, Razdan, flows from it.
When the famous Russian poet, Maksim Gorky, first saw Sevan, he exclaimed, "it is though a piece of sky dropped down among the mountains." That is indeed what it looks like.
