Entertainment sets trends in drug use across the nation.
Hollywood has become the trend setting Haight Asbhury of the 1990's in drug use through its influential community of music, film and television industries, as well as the club scene and the all night underground dance parties called "raves" now commonplace. One important side effect to this dubious honor is seen in a recently released study by Drug-Free Southern California. They surveyed 5,700 youth in 72 Los Angeles public and private schools and founds Los Angeles children are more open to drug use than other U.S. cities.
