Arab Women Novelists: The Formative Years and Beyond.

Joseph Zeidan has written a pioneering study of Arabic-language novels written by Arab women. He is particularly interested in links between feminism and nationalism in such novels. He concludes his introduction by asking "How will these novels affect and reflect the movements for national solidarity and women's rights? And how will these novelists change the face of Arabic literature?". At the end of this very interesting book, these difficult but important questions remain largely unanswered.
