Wyeth withdraws rotavirus vaccine
MADISON, N.J., Oct. 15 (UPI) _ Wyeth Lederle Vaccines, a division of
American Home Products Corp., on Friday withdrew its RotaShield
(rotavirus vaccine) from the market and has requested the immediate
return of all doses of the vaccine.
The company on July 16 temporarily suspended further distribution and
administration of RotaShield until more data on the potential
association between administration of the vaccine and intussusception,
or bowel obstruction, became available.
That action was taken in consultation with the Food and Drug
